Before you come to class
- Wear comfortable clothes such as shorts, t-shirts, and tights
- Be prepared to be barefoot
- Come with an empty stomach
- Let Maria know if you have any significant health issues or injuries, are pregnant, or are menstruating as special poses are available
Important Notice
The practice of yoga, like any physical activity, involves some risk of injury. You should consult with your physician before undertaking any type of exercise.
Namaste
Yoga classes often end with the instructor using this beautiful Sanskrit salutation that comes from India. It means: I honor the place in you where the whole Universe resides. And when I am in that place in me and you are in that place in you, there is only one of us.
Yoga Props
Yoga props include sticky mats, blankets, blocks, bolsters, and many other items. You don't need to buy everything right away. However, a sticky mat is a must. Other items can significantly enhance your yoga experience.
With the growing popularity of yoga in the United States, you can now find yoga props in many places: fitness clubs, yoga studios, health food stores, book stores, and so on.
